this laptop is very good in processing but in some reason it has got problems mainly in lcd . i have repaired its lcd screen for two times n broked again . my laptop was not dropped nor handled wrongly so i think their might b problem in its lcd others functions r very good..:)

I was in the market for a small portable laptop, and was initially considering one of the new AMD fusion powered netbooks. However, when I stumbled on this Samsung laptop, its high spec in such a small package persuaded me to part with the extra cash.

First impressions were great, this thing looks really smart and professional. Nice matte finish all over, nothing shiny and glossy on this thing apart from the Samsung logo on the lid. Very nice indeed.

However, thats where things started to go downhill. The screen on this thing is very mediocre. Sure its matte and Samsung talk about it like its hugely impressive, but its not. It's just a typical cheap laptop screen with poor viewing angles (particularly up and down), average brightness and the default colour settings in windows are horribly washed out, although fiddle with the settings and it does produce some nice colours.

Next up are all the noises it makes. It's just... annoying. The cooling fan comes on after a few mins and stays on which isn't that unusual for any laptop, but its a particularly annoying sound, as it has a quiet hiss to it. The hard drive is fairly audible, and when you actually want it to make noise (ie, from the speakers) the sound is absolutely dreadful and tinny, I know this is a business orientated laptop but they could have spent more than 10p on the speakers.

Couple of points to note - some other websites state that this laptop comes with 3G broadband, the model number NP400B2B-A01UK as sold here on Amazon does NOT come with 3G broadband, and it doesn't come with a DVDRW drive either as the title specifies. By the way, Samsung provide recovery software on a CD for this thing. Handy! Luckily its also installed on the drive too.

Having come from a Macbook, perhaps i've been spoiled when it comes to quality and had my expectations set a bit high, but with the above flaws, I really couldn't live with this thing. The hard drive on my unit was also faulty, perhaps just a bit of bad luck but still annoying all the same.

The worst thing about samsung laptops on uk market is this, that there are not selling with non glossy display new models like:rc510 rc520 rf510 rf520 rv511 - I had to buy from german website with german keyboard what is no problem just had to put on buttoms a few stickers,
I called before samsung uk customer service to check it the guy said: In UK no matte display, seems olny german know what good , ok a bit about laptop :
Expected much better performance choosing high specyfications: paid []£ incuding delivey

A bit overpriced, performance :A bit slowly maybe changing for better windows would work, especially wirless ,bloody german keyboard if you want have matte display !!!!!

good staff : look soild build , matte screen , very nice design, very quiet and cool ,speakers ok a bit weak but no so bad, german keyboard

I reviewed the latest 13" MacBook Pro shortly after it came out in February of this year and pronounced it the best 13" notebook computer money could buy. Well, its reign at the top was short-lived and the time has come to hand over its crown to its younger brother, the latest 13" MacBook Air.

Using Intel's advanced Core i5 and i7 Sandy Bridge processors the new Air is incredibly powerful. These chips give it more than enough horsepower to comfortably outclass anything other than the early 2011 MacBook Pros. With Solid State Drives, the perceived speed of the new Air is faster than the MacBook Pro. Boot times are lightning fast. The Air only lacks power when asked to perform resource hungry work like digital editing. For all routine tasks, the latest Air demolishes my previous 2010 13" MacBook Pro. It's fair to say that it is all the computer that 99.9% of users will ever need.

Despite all this power, it doesn't get too hot. All in all, it is very easy and comfortable to use. Hard core gamers may bemoan the lack of a discrete graphics processor, but the inbuilt Intel GPU is perfectly adequate and it is certainly no worse than the previous generation of MacBook Pro which was a respectable gaming platform. Call of Duty 4 and Civilization V can both be played without enduring intolerably slow polygonal rendering. Screen quality is excellent.

The 13" Air runs MS Office flawlessly. It's great for surfing the web, watching movies, managing pictures in iPhoto and video chatting. The way in which you can perch it on your lap while sitting on a sofa makes it ideal for writing, reviewing email and doing countless other stuff in a relaxed way. It really makes you wonder why all computers aren't built this way. Since the form factor hasn't changed since 2010, suffice it to say that the Air's ergonomics are peerless.

There are two downsides. One is that the hard disk is only 256 GB in size. I think the minimum acceptable size is now 500 GB and ideally 1 TB or 2 TB. If you own a lot of media, this machine may run out of memory quite quickly. I am very surprised that Apple hasn't made a 500 GB SSD available as BTO upgrade for the Air as it has for the 13" MacBook Pro. I guess this is due to cost.

The other problem is that battery life seems less than the late 2010 model, I got 7 rather than 8 or 9 hours. This is a disappointment, but isn't a deal-breaker. You expect a certain loss in battery life when you get a much more capable chip.

In short, this is a truly great personal computer. It marks the fact that we've now reached a point in time where processor power is no longer dependent on chip size. The latest processors are capable of being squeezed into the thinnest enclosures, allowing small and light machines to perform tasks that only a few short years ago would have required a slab of plastic and metal weighing almost 10 lb. This is progress.

The OSX 10.7 Lion operating system is a work of genius. Launch Control, which enables you to review and launch all Apps via a single click, is a very clever refinement. So too is Mission Control, which replaces Expose and allows you to wade through a mass of open windows and applications to find the one you need. Lion also comes with a new Apple email programme which works well. In Safari, I like the way you can now slide pages with your fingers just as if you were turning pages in a book. Nice touch. Hundreds of other interface tweaks make this a no-brainer upgrade.

I'd go as far as to say that the latest 13" Air is so good, it makes the 13" MacBook Pro redundant. It is definitely the benchmark for future systems to beat. When you get as much power in a machine this slim, the incremental power you get in a 13" MacBook Pro doesn't seem worth it toting around in a machine that weighs so much more.

If you need a new machine now, this is undoubtedly the one to buy.

I was looking for an stylish efficient, portable laptop, easy to travel with. After doing my research this fitted the requirements nicely. The delivery was good but I found a small technical hiccup with the machine, the customer service was great and a replacement soon arrived. The laptop is now fully set up installed and working to my spec. It is excellent for internet browsing, holds all my media files and is used for writing and editing my publishing and photography projects. A good easily portable machine.....just one drawback, can Lenovo please redesign the DVD-RW drive opening button I find it very fiddly to operate!

Just got this Netbook about a week ago. For the task i wanted it for it works really well, its faster then i thought, But don't be expecting Laptops Speeds, I've upgraded Windows 7 starter to Home Premium and its running smoothly , But I've got 2gb of Ram coming in the post just to make sure. everything about the machine is great apart for two little niggles one being the Android Due Boot option. its not any good and it lacks the Android marketplace and all of the Google Apps plus its not well suited to a mouse and keyboard, its a shame as well because i wanted ubunto as due boot with windows but my only way of doing this is doing a full re install of windows :(, and my other Niggle is the Track Pad it has a tendency of being a bit hit and miss sensitivity wise, But Overall a very nice product and if you get it from were i did its £10 less and a free mouse :-) double bonus

monitor was bought for my son, who is an architect, and sometimes works from home.His previous monitor was smaller and as such did not afford him the clarity required.He is well pleased so I would infer from this that everything meets his approval and comes up to the standard required for his professional work,he did tell me which monitor he wanted, after much deliberation he came to the conclusion that this was the best value and offered the best technical spec. for his needs.

I've been using this netbook for just under a month now, and it performs perfectly for my needs. The dual-core processors in it make it a lot faster than I thought it would be; the netbook boots up very quickly and everyday tasks are a breeze. Sure, it's still not fast enough to run any serious design, video, or photo editing software, but that is to be expected.
It's very light and sleek, which makes it very portable and great for travelling. One of the main limitations I've found is Windows 7 Starter, but it can be upgraded to Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate. The Aspire One's microphone also isn't that great, which means you have to speak clearly and somewhat loudly during (for example) a Skype call. Overall though, the Aspire One is a great netbook at a great price, and will serve as an outstanding secondary system.
